I took a picture of the Escherichia coli bacterium using an electron microscope and thought it was quite interesting that something so useful can be so harmful.

2021 Corvette
My son Griffin and his friend going out for a drive. Griffin said it was the first time he felt G-Force. The car goes from 0 to 100 k/h in 2.9 seconds!
Green Thumb
Plants are beautiful and very useful as well. However, I’m not sure they like me. I did not do well in Field Botany and I had Job Kuijt as a professor. Growing and caring for them is typically a real challenge for me. Basil is one I particularly like as I put it in homemade spaghetti sauce and compound butter. This plant surprised me and thrived!
Street Wheelers
It was fun driving my MGB during Street Wheelers weekend. If I had kept all the cars I owned I would have many nice cars.
Raspberry Pi
The new Raspberry Pi version 4 has some great features like built-in WiFi. The GUI with Raspbian makes it quite a functional little computer and the price to get it running is very reasonable.
Fly Tying
It has been -30 Celsius and colder for a week a half so I thought I would think of fishing this summer and tie some flies.
Snowshoes
When I was 14 years old I would put on my snowshoes and go trapping west of Edmonton. One thing that I didn’t like was that my boots kept coming out of the snowshoes. I decided to make a good set of bindings out of leather.
Rings
Many years ago I made many pieces of jewelry. I thought I would have some fun building some rings again.
I have several stones trimmed and ready to polish so I can make more jewelry pieces but need to wait until the Covid pandemic is more under control.
Mitts
When it is -20 Celsius or colder, then mittens are much better than gloves.
I made these with beaver fronts, calf upper, inside mitt is elk. They are lined with sheared sheep and fleece. The frills are deer.
The cord is so you can take the mitts off and work with bare hands when necessary.
Fun Reading
There is a whole world in books. Calming down and getting focused on “being here now” sets the stage to read, at least for me. When Bryna starting to get excited about books she was only about 2 years old and what sparked the journey was Elmo. Having exciting material makes a big difference.
